This was Martin & Woodys (ex Voice Of The Beehive) new band. I don’t think Woody did many shows with them.

Garbage,@ The Old castle, Singen,Germany 22-7-99

God was that a L-O-N-G walk(CLIMB!) up the hill! Strange sort of outdoor gig. Really wasn’t a crush down the front….almost too “nice” I was more than knackered at this gig. Afterwards, we waited to try meet the band. I think we only saw Shirley in a car. We hadn’t planned this one very well as had no hotel or anything. I think we spent the night on some disused railway carriages ?
Garbage,Ben Harper, Iggy Pop, @ Paleo Festival, Nyon,Switzerland 21-7-99

Somehow Daniel had put us on the guest list for this one (well, actually Claire+3). I cannot really remember what other bands we saw, though i’m pretty sure we saw Fun Lovin Criminals & Ben Harper (as i remember a boring dude with a guitar haha). I noticed on wikipedia it also lists Iggy Pop & Gotthard. But did we see those ?? Claire, Mel? Rob? Oh yeah, we got on the 2nd row & it was super packed/tight. I got talking with a couple of Italian girls on front row & i just knew they wouldn’t last the show. Sure enough they didn’t as bailed a few songs in. A result of this crush etc was that both myself & Rob almost lost our sticky passes. I think mine ended up stuck on my trousers. Hmm, maybe Rob lost his? Memories sometimes lol
EDIT : 7-1-2018 whilst having a clear out of stuff, i found thisย
Garbage, Reef, Cardigans, @ Axion Beach Fest, Zeebrugge, Belgium,17-7-99

Myself, Mel & Claire went to this one. Cannot remember why Rob didn’t join us. The show was on a beach & the stage was ridiculously high. Being on the front row, you couldn’t hardly see anything. Man it was also such a fucking hot day. We slept in a tent afterwards (something i don’t like haha). Oh yeah, we met “Dave from Birmingham” here as well. In the morning, we found a wallet outside the tent & it was Daves. Not seen him at Garbage gigs for years. He was never really into the internet, so, soon lost contact. Dave, if you’re online & read this, drop us a line ๐
Garbage, @ Princess Street Gardens,Edinburgh, Scotland 1-7-99

The “Front Row Crew” (Myself, Rob,Claire & Mel) met up for this one. Stayed at some university accommodation. The show was filmed for Scottish tv. A great gig it was as well. They did an interesting cover of “Don’t Let Me Down”. I seem to recall that after the gig, whilst hanging around, we saw “Big John” (of GMM fame ) leave the venue. Also i have a strange memory of Mel needing a pee & not being able to find anywhere to go….or did she ? ๐
Garbage, Aerosmith, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, TFI Friday, Riverside Studios, London, 11-6-99

Not a gig as such, but it was a great experience to be able to get tickets for TFI. I think I applied for tickets before we went to Rock Am Ring, Germany. I can remember getting the phone call to confirm we could get tickets & the chap saying “…everyone’s coming out of the woodwork trying to get tickets as it’s such a good line-up…”. I think it might have been myself & Mel who got to the place first (?). Also remember Anthony Kiedis coming outside before the show and no one recognised him as he’d dyed is hair blond & it was short. Also saw Joe Perry going in. Also found out that the Chilli Peppers would be doing a show at Camden Palace later on. If my memory serves me correct, tickets were available via a competition on Radio 1 FM.
Here’s the song Garbage played :
Who’s the guy on front wearingย the red top ? ๐
Garbage, Alanis Morissette, Amanda Marshall, Bryan Adams, Faithless, Furslide, Heather Nova, Kula Shaker, Lauryn Hill, Liquido,Manic Street Preachers, Paradise Lost,Reef, Robbie Williams,Skunk Anansie, Slut, Stereophonics,Suede,Ultrasound,Dan, @ Rock Am ring festival,Nurbugring,Germany 21-5-99

3 days of rock in Germany. Some brilliant acts & some no so brilliant haha. We went on a bus trip with accommodation also provided a few miles away from festival. This was my first festival abroad since going to Germany in 1984. Things have changed some what ๐ We queued for something silly like 12hours to get front row for Garbage. They played in a massive (15,000 capacity??) tent. It got so hot in there that there was moisture coming down the tent. Eeeewww! We had some trouble with a girl trying to push her way into front row….until she tried it with Mel & got a good kicking & words to the effect of “Fuck off you German Bitch” lol. Nowadays, the festival is so big that the “Alterna Tent” moved from a tent to a proper (big) open air stage. We were lucky to go to the festival before it got too big. I think Mel also did a bungee jump at this show. Oh yeah, we knew Rurik from the UK dates & i said to the others ,”I bet you i can find him”. Sure enough, i saw him walk by & we met up !
