The Fall were crap, The Mission great….you could tell Wayne was pissed as a fart & happy as hell to be playing at the mighty Leeds footy ground, The Pretenders were also great. U2 were pretty sublime. Great stuff. Leaving the venue there was a massive crush & i’m amazed no one got hurt tbh.
I was there as a twenty year old with my mate John Docherty.

Have you seen the video footage from the gig ? (Included in latest Mission album) . I’d forgot just how super busy/crowded it was ! Wouldn’t be allowed nowadays 😉
Best gig iv,e ever been to blown away by U2
I was 19 and got to about 10-15 ft away from the stage and never moved away for the whole day. Still remember the heat and the atmosphere – never been beaten!
Great day. U2 were great, pretenders were great, the fall were different but I really got into them after this gig, unique music and nothing else like the fall
